Surely if the subject of this allegorical mythical picture is also hanging in the National Gallery http://www.nationalga...da-and-the-swan...and this is considered acceptable it is a little daft to object to this. Personally, I find any sexual images displayed in a window to be offensive. But I certainly wouldn't expect them to take them away because of this. If I am small-minded and inhibited I don't expect everyone else to be.

How do you mean? It was removed on the last day of the exhibition, so would have been taken down anyway. The question is...where do you draw the line? Maybe they should have blank windows in private art galleries???

the swan is an ancient symbol of love and knowledge both in Celtic history and Christianity, hence the art and sculpture that appears with the "cygnus olor" through history
