assuming it was a mistake of course, and not a murder attempt.
The sticker on the knife is suspicious though... either implies an amateur left it on ... or it was concealed in a pocket and surrepticiously replaced in haste by the guilty person, and the sticker not noticed or cared about...
They nicked that from an episode of Midsomer Murders! It was an amateur production of something with Mrs Barnaby on stage when the guy slits his own throat. Life imitating art?
I'm slightly amazed this happened at all tbh, he must have had rehersal after rehersal after rehersal, he would surely have known himself that it wasn't the right knife? Not a suicide attempt or an attention seeking stunt was it?
well, if a suicide, rather dramatic. If a stunt, rather dangerous and stupid. Would think that it won't take the Austrian polis that long to work out who bought it.....
The 'Midsomer Murders' episode featuring that plot - 'Death of a Hollow Man' - was first broadcast in 1998. A similar plot device (a theatre actress inadvertently stabs and kills another cast member) also appears in 'Monk: Mr. Monk Goes to the Theater' from 2003.
nox, not necessarily...most actors dont know their arse from elbow with props... if the knives were more or less identical except one was blunted and one sharpened, they would probably not notice, in the few seconds between him picking it up and using it... they would trust the props person to have the right one...as presumably there was never any need to have a sharp one.
i wouldnt put it past some desperate actor looking for a quick boost into the news etc to do something like this...but its a massive risk and could easily have gone wrong
