What would the Romans say about desecration of their graves and legacy? I don't see the Italians up in arms and I bet their graves from WW2 as well have been got at .
I seriously hope that the ruins haven't been damaged - I have been to the Sabratha ruins just to the west of Tripoli and they are amazing. They say the ones at Khom, 50 miles east are even more spectacular. It could provide Libya with a tremendous tourist business when everything settles down. The mosaics at Sabratha were just out of this world an completely unprotected..... Even the Roman toilet seats (in slate) were still intact, a ditch running underneath.
Just off the site was a burnt out small ship, "Les droggistes" we were told....Wild place back then (2000 and 01), never mind the moment.
