/// On Thursday the Taliban had called on Afghans to attack "invading forces" in revenge for "insulting" the Koran. ///

With this latest unrest due to US troops burning the Koran, it is now becoming obvious that it is now providing the ideal weapon for the Taliban, so would it would seem reasonable to believe that we can no longer trust anyone.

So isn't it now time that all foreign troops were withdrawn from Afghanistan?

I think they may be needed soon for the forthcoming Iranian business.

Are we missing a word in the OP title?

Or is it just me?
No It's The Op!

Yes Sandy I agree, but what about the Falklands, Somalia, and Syria?

We can't be everywhere at once, the only way out is for WW3, and get them all done at the same time. :0)
What, 'Can We No Longer Anyone' is the title?

It appears to be missing either a word or a comma!
Can we no longer (what) anyone, please?
Could the missing word be 'Trust'?
Question Author
Philtaz Sorry the word I missed typing, was 'Trust'.
Thanks AOG.

Thank you Sandy, it is a good job someone can work things out for themselves.

World Wars have a habit of sorting the world out, don't they?

I thought it was the missing words round.

It is not a matter of trust. We are in Afghanistan at the 'invitation' of the Afghan Government. While we are there we should not burn their Holy Book as it is deemed disrespectful. I suspect you would not be too impressed if Khazi, the next time he is in London, emerged from No.10 and lit a big fat cigar with a burning poppy.
Burning the Koran (whether by mistake or not) was a damned stupid thing to do.
.... although in mitigation, I have always understood that if any Islamic papers are to be destroyed, burning is the only approved way. However, IMO is wasn't so much the burning, more that fact that it was being burned with other waste and thus being demeaned.... anyone else picked up on this?
Ironic, isn't it, that 75% of the civilian casualties in Afghanistan come from Taliban attacks which include the attacks on mosques when prayer services are being conducted and during which men, women and childern... and oh yes, Qurans are burned and destroyed? Unique concept...

Give them time boxtops, they are too busy picking on me.

/// I suspect you would not be too impressed if Khazi, the next time he is in London, emerged from No.10 and lit a big fat cigar with a burning poppy. ///

One thing that is certain, he wouldn't be murdered for doing so, and it wouldn't attract huge mobs of armed savages, rampaging for six days, through the streets.

/// 50 German troops where withdraw from their small base several weeks earlier than planned and France announced last month that it would bring home its combat troops in 2013, a year earlier than expected. ///

Now is the time for the UK to act.
This might be a good time to remind you that they are our ally. We have invested over 10 years of time, money and blood there. You want us to junk all that because of a little local difficulty. Do you have any French blood in you AOG?
