Would I Lie To You?

If you were the parent of someone being tried for murder, would you lie under oath in court in an attempt to save them? Of course this question is totally unrelated to a certain current event...

Maybe if I'd been threatenened by a bunch of murderous thugs.....
No, not if they did it.
It would depend on whether I knew if they had done it and why they had done it. But probably not.
never
If I was unfortunate enough to find myself the parent of a cowardly son, who I knew had been part of a group which had overpowered and killed another young man, purely on the basis that he was black, not only would I not commit perjury on his behalf, I would seriously consider infanticide.
If you know or suspect they're guilty, it's easy, you wouldn't lie.

If you genuinely believe 100% they're innocent and you feel a terrible miscarriage of justice is about to happen unless you prevent it, it's a harder decision.
It would depend in all honesty on the circumstances- however in relation to what I think you are referring to- if my child turned out to be a murderous racist thug then no absolutely not.

Sorry.... wrong thread :P

However, it lightens the mood... : /
flip, is that in the right thread...?
Oh god. Sorry :-(
Why not, the daughter of the women stealing flowers from the lads grave that had been killed in a road accident shopped her, and good for her.
Pretty much agree with Nox.

It does depend on the circumstances, but yes, in all honesty, I could commit perjury to save one of my children going to jail.

Why the colour of the victim be relevant I just do not know, would you not be equally concerned if the victim happened to be white?
AOG - Khandro is making reference to a high-profile trial currently taking place which appears to consist of the circumstances he mentions.
D'oh!

No, I wouldn't lie for my son, either.....under any circumstances.

And I was making reference to the vicious murder of Danny O'Shea.
@AOG, Oh really!
AOG, I hope we could all agree that justice should be colour blind.
