Will these protests ever achieve any of their aims ? We know what their complaints are but of those interviewed not one said what can be done. They remind me of the banal trade union chants " What do we want ? We want ??? . When do we want it ? Now ! "
Its all Want ! Want ! never How it can be done.

If you are up to your neck in debt there is no easy answer. In most of the countries concerned it was the explosion in house building that precipitated the collapse.
We could bankrupt every banker and oligarch in the world but it would be a drop in the ocean. Tens of thousands of developments are already built, the money is spent, its gone
and is replaced with a giant debt.

Sorry Bobbi I hadn't realised you had posted a similar thread.
A protest is really about registering a complaint rather than offering another path. We have all been shafted by the banks.

Some grumble on obscure news forums, others shout and wave a placard. But the bankers will get away with it.

But thats the problem Gromit unless the protester can offer an alternative nothing is done. Look at Labour all protest and no alternatives.

Not sure what that means? Since Labour lost power they have been rather ineffectual. I do not recall ANY protest from Labour since they lost power.

They might be moaning about the Government, but that is the Role of the opposition. You could be forgiven for forgeting that, as the Tories were abysmal in opposirion, and only scrapped into Government by Labour being rubbish.

But how valid is a criticism if when challenged you can't back it up, doesn't that weaken what you have said ? It seems to me no protest ever works unless you have something to put in its place.

That's always true parties don't win elections , governments lose them.
