Why do Politicians avoid giving a straight answer ,no matter how many times they are asked the same question.

The problem is they know that journalists lead them into traps. Eg, "Will your party clamp down on single mums?", Yes, -- go down the bully single mums line, No - go down the do gooding liberal line. There is not a straight answer to most of the questions. Now I'd be the last one to defend the shower but to be fair a lot of the blame lies with media interviewers and subsequent reporting.
