Gordon Brown's eating habit

What is Gordon Brown always chewing on when he is speaking? Is it chewing gum,a mint? I was told it was rude to eat while you are talking.

He's been trained to speak slowly and pause for effect and to gather his thoughts. Some people say 'er' or 'you know' in these pauses, others smile- he just swallows or bites his tongue to force himself to pause

Good answers, folks. Tony Blair was brilliant keeping a straight face when he told a lie:I mean doing it 24/7 must be hard work.

Wasting taxpayer's money? - he's Scottish after all. Perhaps he knew the Boks would win so went to gloat??
