Maybe I misheard the question but I thought it was who was the longest reigning monarch in the 20th Century. The contestant answered Elizabeth II which I also thought but the answer was George V. Now I'm wondering what exactly the question was.

It was "entirely in the 20th century".

That puzzled me too. Also had a laugh when the young female contestant was asked who, in 1893?, composed the opera Hansel and Gretel. Her answer was Perry Como!
I missed that question :-( I felt quite sorry for the young girl, the questions in the cashbuilder are good general knowledge but those on the actual board are often very obscure. the two don't equate
It was "entirely in the 20th century".
ooh that's a bit sneaky novalis
That's what I was going to say, novalis, Lizzie 11 is still reigning in the 21st Century. Yes, I had to laugh at the Perry Como answer, too - odd when she did so well in the cash-builder.
Perry Como , engelbert Humperdinck I can understand the mistake
Oh come on Brinjal, do you really think Perry Como was composing in 1893 - he wasn't even born then!

Did Perry Como compose any songs?
I don't think he'd like to be referred to as a cabaret singer
Engelbert Humperdinck
1 September 1854 - 27 September 1921 (age 67)

German 19th century composer. Engelbert Humperdinck is best known for his opera Handsel and Gretel.

Sorry, being really pedantic today.
Why so serious?
It's a strange way to word a question because QE2 reigned for 47 or 48 years in the 20th Century (depending on how you interpret its end) whilst KG5 reigned for 26 years.

Thanks for your answers - I obviously missed the word 'entirely' which was crucial to the question.
The third longest reign was that of George III, who ruled for 59 years 96 days between 1760 and 1820.
I've noted in these kind of quizzes 3 things you need to swot up on - The Monarchy, US presidents and Harry Potter books.
I should go on The Chase then, those are my 2nd 3rd and 4th favoutite subjects Prudie.
Don't tell us your first, I'd rather imagine
