Are ther EDL racist? A few of my friends are members and they keep asking me to join. With all the immigration and different cultures coming I cant see it a bad thing trying to preserve our heritage and traditions but I dont want to get labelled as a racist. What do you think?

A chap I know is a member and he's definitely a racist, not sure if he's representative of all their members though.

It is not so much that they are racist but the fact that this organisation, so well-beloved of one of our regular posters, makes the BNP look semi-respectable, which would concern me. A non-racist in the EDL is harder to find than a prok chop in a synagogue.

May I suggest that you try reading some of our history and you will realise that we have always been a nation of immigrants, Picts, Saxons, Vikings, Normans, Hugenots, Jewish, Dutch, Polish, Eastern European, and so it goes on - so your so-called heritage is more than likely to be the most exotic cocktail of immigrants and then you want to "criticise" the arrival of new culture.

Also, some reflection on change management/psychology may be beneficial and build a better sense of realism and tolerance.

There are ways and means smillingcrow, I would say that if you wish to politicise you should look at all the parties and make your choice.

The EDL are a far right party with all it involves. They are trying to say they are not but there actions say they are. Yes you would get that label.

Wheres the irony. You take a question at face value and some people can be less than aware about politics.

Why can't the EDL address the issues without being racist? It is so sad to see people influenced by physical differences.
