I remember seeing them at Uni back in the 70s and bought a couple of singles (Daddy Kool/ The Girl can't Help it and Boy From New York City). They had many hits. I liked them even though they didn't really fit in with my musical tastes which was a confusing mix of mainly punk and Pink Floyd.
I reckon the lead singer would be in his 60s now |

I loved Darts when they were out.
We used to go to Billingham Ice Rink at the time and I remember when Daddy Cool used to start everybody would drift round really slowly till the fast bit came on then they'd bomb round as fast as they could in time to the music. Looking at the old vids reminds me what a bad mime artist Den Hegarty was! I can remember seeing them on TOTP and I didn't even know he was the songwriter and founder member, I thought he was just in the band as a bit of madcap deepvoice singing muscle! Great memories, thanks Zab! |
