How do i convert M4A itunes files to an MP3 file?

i have loads of music in my itunes directory and i have bought a creative nano mp3 player but it only plays mp3 format files and wma. it does not play itunes m4a format files. how can i convert them?

Convert them in iTunes.

It won't let you convert music purchased from the iTunes Music Store.
You would have to burn your music as an audio CD (AIFF) and then re-import them as mp3 files.
