I suppose this question can only be answered by someone who lives/haslived in Hull. I remember in the 1960's there was a bowling alley on Beverley Road, not too far down, somewhere near Fountain Road/Kingston General hospital, on the other side of the road. I think it suffered a fire in the 70's and was then demolished.

Does anyone else remember it? Do you possibly have a photo of it you can e-mail me? This is to settle an argument with a friend who reckons the bowling alley never existed. Hopefully, thanks in advance

Definitely existed, definitley burnt down.

Last time I was there, the then new bowling alley was out towards Bransholme.

Have just looked and it's off a new road called Raich Carter Way (A1033).

BigMac Thanks for your answer. Yes there was one once at Bransholme, near Bridges Pub, that's gone now but we have one at Kingswood nr North Bransholme. Also one on Holderness Road - The Green Man and we had a big MegaBowl on St. Andrews Quay but that's gone too now.
Regards Janet
Yes there was a bowling alley where you are remembering. Was almost opposite the hospital I think. What later became the Rediffusion Headquarters - again I think - don't quote me on that. My uncle Bernie Gibbons was, I believe the manager at one time - he emigrated to Bermuda.
