Albatross?
Delilah? (birds were women in the 60s :-)
Albatross was in the charts for 20 weeks in 1968 .
It is also the biggest selling 'rock' album of all time.
My first thought was also Albatross but that was a single not an album
Cant see it in the Album Charts for 68 Eddie ?
The op asks for the top of the album charts not singles so perhaps The Notorious Byrd Brothers by the Byrds
"It is also the biggest selling 'rock' album of all time" Not sure where you got that from Eddie. The only Fleetwood Mac album that sold that well was Rumours and that didn't have Albatross on it. As I said there isn't an album called Albatross.
Is the clue exactly as you've posted it Ninny?
Song to a Seagull. Joni Mitchell?

Ta, crossed there.
I think paddywak has it as the only album listed in 1968 with any reference to birds.
can' see any birds in that lot, as opposed to Byrds. It might be Blackbird from the Beatles' white album, which made the top of the charts (or if it's more cryptic, Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite from Sgt Pepper)
jno may have it there with Blackbird! Sgt Pepper was 1967.
song to a seagull joni mitchell
