Dancing Queen? Can't exactly remember when that came out, but that and Candi Staton are really the only ones that stick in my memory
Question Author
Oh yes, the Elton John and Kiki Dee one was very prominent.
That Can't get by without you by the Real Thing seemed to be around forever.
How the flip did Acker Bilk get in that list?
Question Author
I think You to me are everything by the Real Thing was out that summer. Another song I loved was I`m your Puppet by James and Bobby Purify. A lot of the songs at that time were re-releases
Gawd knows, Cap'n.
Blimey it really sounds like Maxine Nightingales Right Back From Where We Started From.

.. and everyone thinks that Maxine did it first ?
I don't know if they came out in 76 but I remember Afternoon Delight and the Going to Barbados song.
Afternoon Delight did, rocky. Don't think Barbados song did though.
Question Author
Afternoon Delight - I think that was a band called something like the Starland/Starlan Vocal Band. The Barbados song was 1975. First time I went to Barbados I wanted to get that song on my iTunes but I couldn`t find it. These days, some PC people probably think it was racist :-(

Those are the two songs uppermost in my memory from 1976. They blared from the lido speakers all summer, makes me feel very nostalgic when I hear them.
1975 was a decent summer to.

Yes it was Tony. That is why I think this summer might be a good one. At Easter 1975 we had thick snow in Devon and my friend and I decided to raid her Dad`s workshop and try to make a sledge that we could use during the school holidays. We got as far as almost getting the last runner on it when the snow thawed. That was followed by a hot summer. This spring was cold and late which might be a good sign..
My main song memory from that time is Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep, but I've use googled it, apparently it was released in 1971. It seemed to be on the radio all the time in 1976, according to my memory.
