help with music quiz please

i am trying to make a music quiz for our 20th anniversary party.
Is there anyone who could give some advice pease?
i would like to do an intro round and also a tv theme round.
As I don't need the whole track, i don't really want to buy it from itunes or similar. is there any way i can just get a snippet, off the internet, safely?
How do i convert it so that it can go on my ipod or cd?
i really would appreciate any help!

There is a program you can download to convert songs on youtube to mp3s.

if you use the little tab on top of the videos it will do everything automatically
