Story in todays papers say it will cost fans £160 to see Madonna in concert this summer as she plays her first concert in Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. That does NOT include booking fee or postage.
£500 if you want the "Golden Circle Tickets"

Anyone who pays this kind of money to see her must be off their nut.
What a rip off. Do not pay these prices people. Come to your senses.
Hope it rains on the day soaking the fools.

Shhhh Mark! haha!
No of course I would not Mark. I do not have that sort of money to splurge. Would not enjoy it either.
// would you pay £160 to see Nirvana, if Kurt still lived? //

No.
..and I like Nirvana by the way.
I was lucky enough to see Queen perform live. If Freddie were alive today I'd pay much more than £160 to see them.
I will be paying to see the show, and £160 is pretty good value when you consider Barbara Streisand was charging up to £500 per ticket for her 2007 shows in London.

I've seen all her live shows and know exactly how expensive these kinds of shows are...but they're also bl**dy enjoyable.

Incidentally - how much are the top priced tickets for the FA Cup? Or best seats at the Royal Ballet?

People should comparing Madonna ticket prices to those kinds of entertainment - not to some indie band at the Hammersmith Apollo.
Ultimately it's like anything else - to the people who like it, it's a fair price, and to the people who don't it isn't. People will pay sillier amounts for football matches etc.

Personally I'm with whoever it was said they wouldn't pay a tenner, and I don't think I'd pay over £100 for any concert, not even if they somehow managed to resurrect Elvis, The Beatles, Mozart and the Smiths and put them on the same bill - I'm just not into the 'live' thing that much even if I like the music. That's just me though.
If I won the lottery yes and outa the rest of the tenner a fish supper
I wouldn't open the cutains if she was playing in the garden, if enough people think like me she won't sell the tickets.

She has a huge fan base and supply and demand pushes the price.

I really don't see the merit of this story in terms of "outrage" These are the same people who are "shocked" at the salaries ofpremiership footballers, it boils down to jealousy or the wish to get the jealous to be outraged.

Until I find out the taxpayer is subsidising Madonna or the Permiership I just think i'll turn the page, to find Leith man earns £20k per year where will it end.
// I wouldn't open the cutains if she was playing in the garden //

I'd have to, to tell her to stop the racket and push off.

I would love to call you a philistine, but I'm not 100% sure how that word is spelled.

So I shall just say, "You would be missing out on the world's greatest living entertainer".

Wow! Lots of answers and responses. Never expected so many. Thanks.

I posted this because I felt that the excessive ticket prices that these "Artists" charge their fans is becoming ridiculous. It's preventing the ordinary fans from seeing their music idols performing live because they are simply being priced out of the privilege. For example, my young cousin is Madonna mad and would love to go but simply can't justify the costs which would also involve the travelling to the venue. Combining her Christmas and birthday money wouldn't even meet half the costs. She couldn't even afford to go and see wee Kylie Miniature [sic] last year and had to settle for the concert on DVD.

After seeing Madge perform at the Superbowl last night, lip-syncing I must add, I think people will feel short changed if that is the standard of the show.

Previous posters mention that people fork out money for tickets to the Royal Ballet and top sporting events and the likes but these are aimed at a particular type of person(s) with disposable incomes. A pop concert is not worth £160.
Yes I understand that this is where the artists make their money now by performing "live" as the CD sales dry up due to the digital download era.
Merchandise sold at the concerts also supplements their revenue/income.

How many big name acts will now chance their arm by charging inflated tickets price stating "Well if Madonna can get away with it, why can't we?".

I don't think the Murrayfield gig will be a sell out and will probably be cancelled due to poor ticket sales. Then again maybe not.

Unlike poster "hc4361" I didn't get to see Queen with Freddie perform live. This would be my dream ticket if he were still alive and performing with Queen.
But with my budget and income the most I could afford would be £70 at a push. That's all folks.
Oldest business premise - supply = demand = price.
I saw her at Roundhay Park some years ago. Her voice is rubbish live.
I wouldnt pay 16p to see her again

Never believe everything you read in the papers.
Tickets for the Madonna gig in Edinburgh will range from £45 up £125.

World Tour dates just announced:

End of all postings on the topic from me.
I like her, but I'm not mad on her.
Glastonbury tickets are only £200 and that's a 4 day festival.
Must be barmy

She hasn't released anything decent in at least 10 years
// ...the world's greatest living entertainer //

I'll tell you what sp, for someone who can't sing, act, write music, or play an instrument very well, and who isn't even majorly stunning in the looks dept, she's done incredibly well to become such a massive star.
..and I mean that quite seriously, I do admire what she's achieved through sheer hard work and determination.
