DVD Recorder/Player

I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder Model DMR-EX77EB-K.
Is it possible to set this model up to show the clock all the time.
At present the clock only shows when I have set the timer to record a programme later.
Have looked through the instruction book but this facility is not mentioned.
Any ideas please.
