take the tax disc to your local dvla office along with the mot cert and they should be able to change it to the new reg on your car and that should see you alright.

there is something wrong here, when you change a private plate over, you have to supply the old MOT and tax,to the dvla, and on return you get a new MOT cert and new tax disc i think you need to contact either the garage or old owner,as all new docs would be sent to him.
