goes on and on

my rover turbo diesel car (1995) will not switch off. i take keys out and it just goes on and on till i stall it. does anyone know why please bestiebabe (Sat 19:31 04/Jul/09)

chas2008		(Sat 20:55 04/Jul/09) the chances are its the stop solenoid on the fuel pump, when you turn of the ignition it stops the fuel getting to the pump and so stops the engine running .
cazzz1975		(Sat 20:57 04/Jul/09) just to add to that check that you have not over filled the oil in the sump as it could be feeding through the turbo chas's answer is more likely though
