(Tue 20:08 23/Jun/09)Check your connections on the Turbo!! Clips! are they loose? has a pipe got a split in it causing the turbo to suck in air.

(Fri 00:42 26/Jun/09)I remember when the turbo blew on Malcolm Wilson's Escort Cosworth on a rally stage it was smoking like ******* so that's where my money is. Very sorry. Sounds expensive. Also a colleague had the turbo go on a two week old Passat so the car doesn't have to be old or thrashed for it to go.

(Fri 08:23 26/Jun/09)I doubt you need a new turbo. It sounds like a split pipe around the turbo somewhere. Check all pipes from the turbo, and the intercooler. It may be worth giving the EGR valve a clean too as this will cause a lot of smoke if it's clogged up
