GOLF TDI MK5 - Central locking problem

My Golf central locking comes on soon as I set off. When I pressit off, it comes on again. Is there anything I can do to have a choice of either off or on ?

This is a 'safety' feature found on many modern cars, to prevent car-jacking / theft when stationary at traffic lights etc. There should be some info in your hand book on how to turn it off.
