Central Locking

What is the likely fault and fix, please, for this central locking problem on a 2001 Focus Estate? The rear passenger door lock does not respond to the key fob remote nor to the key being used in either front door. It has to be locked and unlocked from the inside. The other three doors work fine. Thanks

Most likely a faulty solonoid, as the latch is still working ok
less likely would be a wiring fault, you need to strip the door to confirm the soloniod is getting the correct electrical feeds

Thanks bigboots.

I should try stripping both rear doors and replacing the faulty assembly with the working one from the driver's side, then (assuming there is no left/right assembly) to see whether it's power supply or solenoid, then.

There goes Saturday!

Cheers.

If you have a test light then you only need to strip the affected door to check for the lock/unlock feeds, never worked on fords but have changed loads of these on other makes

Thanks bigboots.

I don't have a test light nor any penchant for car mechanics, just a Haynes manual and plasters for the knuckles - I'll let you know how it goes

Cheers.
