number plates

hi guys
ive ben tryin to figure this out for ages, number plates at the moment are renewed twice a year eg. 08 in first half of year and 58 in second part of year, how are they gonna do it when we get to double figures eg. 2010, 2011 etc... they cant exactly do it the same as single figure with 08 and 58.
**10 *** and **510 *** just doesent work does it.
anyone got any ideas

From DVLA website:

The 5 will change to 6 in 2010 and to 7 in 2020 and so on until 2050 when the format may be reversed to extend the format another 50 years.

2010 will have plates with 10 and 60, 2020 will change to 20 and 70 etc

I believe it will go; 58 / 09 / 59 / 10 / 60 / 11 / 61 / 12 / 62 etc, etc. This will enable another 50 years - ish (from when it was started) of licensing.
