Fan belt on vauxhall corsa

is it an easy job to change the fan belt on a vauxhall corsa, mines a 1996 model p reg 1.2 ls petrol, it looks straight forward i think i undo the bolt to the alternator, but there seems to be another bolt is this the tensioner and do i undo that first?

Your fan is driven by electricity not a belt.

There is a seqence to use to ease the tensioner on the auxilary belt, perhaps someone will help with a better answer or get the Haynes manual to help you.

yes silly me of course the fan is run by an electric motor , my fault and yes i think i do mean the auxhilliary belt that goes round alternator., ive always just called it the fan belt for some silly reason. as i sometimes screaches and always recall saying the fan belt is slipping but yes it is actually the auxhilliary belt i mean.

Pop to the library & borrow the Haynes manual, because the belts & replacement vary depending on wether you`ve got the 1,2 SOHC or DOHC engine.
