setting up timing on 2003 renault master 2.5 td

can anybody help me i have recently had my head reconditioned on my renault master van as timing belt snapped and damaged my cam somehow or the cam damaged which caused the belt to break i have built it back up and she runs but like a dog wont tick over and is pinking like mad i set it up top dead centre as i could not see any timing marks anywhere does anybody know how to set up the timing please
