bmw 316i

I have a 1998 BMW 316i. A red warning light has just come on. It is a red circle with three small rectangular blocks either side of the circle. Can you tell me what the symbol is indicating?

Is your handbrake part on? other than that pads

before you do anything else check the fluid level it could be the level has gone down due to brake pad wear
