Escort clutch, adjustable?

I have just bought a Ford Escort 1.4 CL, R reg and it's immaculate in all respects, low mileage for age 55,000. The only fault is that the clutch is a bit 'high' at biting point. I'm easy on clutches and sure I will keep it okay for some time to come yet but I would be interested to know if it can be adjusted.

some are and somer arent, the adjustable ones have an allen head bolt on the clutch pedal to adjust. the ones that dont have an adjustable ratchet mechanism which self adjusts. all cable controlled clutches on escorts of this age if i remember correctly.

You were perfectly right David1702198.
I called at my local small garage and the guy adjusted the bolt over the clutch pedel in about five minutes. The clutch now feels much better and bites at about the normal place.
