New Car Tax disc display

When obtaining a new tax disc early how soon can I dispaly it on the car? Is it - no more than 14 days before the old tax disc expires? I thought I read this somewhere but cannot find it now

You cannot display it until the first of the following month.

But, if you apply for a tax disc in advance, it comes into force on the first day of the following month and you should not display it on your vehicle until then.

If you've sold a kidney and spent your hard earned money on it put it in the windscreen on the day you get it, at least that way you won't forget to put it in and get done for having no tax when you forget to do it.

Ive always displayed the new tax disc as soon as I buy it even if the old one isn't out of date....

There's nothing to stop you displaying the new tax disc as soon as you get it.

However, it won't apply until the first of the month, so you must continue also to display the old one until then, or you will not be displaying a current in-force tax disc.
