peugeot 206 smell of burning?

Hi my wife has just broken down and she is getting a smell of burning from behind the dash.She hasnt started the car again but when she turns her key enough to enable the electrics i.e battery light etc comes on then the burning smell starts again.Anyone have any ideas.Cheers as usual.

Hi again theAA have just been and said an earth wire had come loose and the smell was just it every now and ahgain touching.He said the new wire he had put on was a temporary repair but we are trading the car in tomorrow so should we get it fixed or chance it.The AA guy said once the car was on the car forecourt it was then there problem.What should we do?
