How do I get my bonnet open on my Megane?

The lever that the handbook refers to is the steering column adjustment. I have an 03 Megane and cannot for the life of me. Can anyone help me?

my hubby sells new renaults and im sure that when he had a megane as a demo, the release catch is in the passenger footwell at the door side. he has a megane cab coupe at present and that it where it is on that.
