Another petrol/oil question. I have just bought an old rotovator - apparently I need to mix petrol with an additive as it is a 4 stroke, 5 hp engine. Can anyone tell me what the ratio for this would be, also does it need to take special oil or will normal oil I use for the car be ok?

are you sure its 4 stroke? usually you only mix oil with petrol for 2 stroke engines!

Hi - thanks - yes it is 4 stroke. The oil is separate to the petrol - I just needed to know what oil to use. I have been told to put an additive into the unleaded petrol and don't know the ratio for this.

I would imagine a bog standard engine oil should go in the sump

As for petrol additives....i'd think about something like redex but that's all i can think of....never heard of anything else

if it's a very old rotavator then you may need lead substitute 'cos petrol nowdays is.....unleaded!

get it in halfords.
