Radiator Issue

Dad got a new radiator in the car about a week ago.

Thursday night the wee icon appeared saying it needed water. So we put water in but it keeps coming on.

Engine is hot but no indication of it overheating, no sign of any leaks and water level hasn't changed since putting water in.

Any ideas what it might be?

An airlock in the circuit? Faulty sensor?

Take it back to where it was fitted, they'll sort it out for you.

That being said it's dads car could be anything ;)
//// An airlock in the circuit? Faulty sensor? ////

My first thought was an airlock as well.
There's probably a bleed valve somewhere ...... a competent garage should have bled it properly in the first place :(

Thank you Gizmonster...I'll speak to Dad and let him know.
In the days when changing the antifreeze was an annual event, I used to "burp" mine by squeezing the top hose. Put some more water in, burp again until it's just water squishing.

Thank you bhg will give that a try too.

I remember him doing that with our first BMW was fascinated with it.
If it is a BMW, what year? the Bleed screw's is just on top of the top hose, and another just behind that, it's the size of a 5p with a X on it to insert a Flat head screw driver, but be advised these cars can be a right pain to bleed & prone to Head Gaskets should the Tem Gauge get to red.
