The insurance cancelled my policy after the initial deposit as a result my car was seised by the police.

We probably need more info. Have you paid instalments on time? have the insurance company notified you of the cancellation?
Yes, They can cancel it but they have to give you notice in writing before they do it.
Unless they find it was a fraudulent application
( previous accident not disclosed or similar) , in which case they can cancel it immediately without notice.
