Although this might be a good idea in the interests of increased road safety – surely it must work both ways with police warning cyclists who under-take a slow moving line of vehicles, where the gap between the cars and pavement is less than 2.25m.

It's not unusual to find. cyclists two or even three abreast and paying no attention to traffic. Then they start whingeing when a driver sounds his/her horn. They don't even stay in the cycle lane.
Hope the cops target cyclists that ride on the pavement !.

Agree 100% Tonyav, plus no lights even on the road.

I think that cyclist should have to pay a small fee for a licence, road tax & insurance, plus a fine for not wearing a helmet.

This could help towards more cycling lanes being made & damages caused to motorist vehicles/drivers, and pedestrians if its their fault.
:-) Drivebuddy. What went on there?

It was clear, I just couldn't believe it, Divebuddy. What a dope!
trt

Many cars pay no road tax/VED so why should a cyclist pay?

I tend to agree to a licence helmet and insurance.

Around here you would be very lucky to get a gap of 2.25m, more like 1.25m
## Tilly, an idiot cyclist (not looking where he is going) rides into the back of a parked car. I thought the video made that clear, no. ##

Make sure you don't drive about, when Tillys about!!!!

A much better idea would be to discourage cyclists to risk their lives travelling on a flimsy slow vulnerable self powered vehicle in the middle of motorised traffic. But as usual the authorities get to tackle the wrong part of the issue.

OG,
Maybe if they spent more on correct cycling infrastructure(as in Holland, Belgium etc) they wouldn't need to deal with said issues. Furthermore, such spending would help reduce the obesity epidemic in this country.
And finally, on my slow moving bicycle I very often pass slower moving traffic on my short commute home whilst they tackle the rush hour gridlock!

No sign of any parking restrictions that I can see, so no different to parking in a residential street is it.
more bikes, less cars, you lazy lot!
One can't justify the cost of special arrangements just because someone wants to cycle.

Yeah, you're right. Instead of tackling it now, let the next 2, 3 even 4 generations wallow in fumes and ever-pervading increasing inactivity, I'm sure they'll sort themselves out eventually.
