Tracing An Old Car

Does anyone know if and how its possible to trace the whereabouts of a car?
I'm talking about a car that was first registered in the late 50s...... I did find evidence of it being sold in the 80s i think, but i can no longer find that particular evidence
The particular vehicle im refering to is no longer registered with DVLA.

If it is a rare car there will be an owners club for that model. You could look it up on the internet and ask the members.
