If you can't keep a record or remember when things are due to be renewed,
maybe you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Who, me ?.
http://www.creativetaxdiscs.co.uk/page9.html

I print a copy of my renewals and keep it in the glove box. You know the copper who 'cant verify your renewal blah blah'.
Not particularly. As long as it doesn't cost me anymore money, I'm quite happy not to have one.
Tax disc's will never come back. The DVLC makes too much money from the fact that every time a car changes ownership they get an extra months tax. Both the buyer and the seller have to pay the tax for the month a car is sold. Over the whole UK it must give them £millions a year.
I got records....

Can't remember where they are.
Why should anyone need to remember to tax their vehicle anyway? My vehicle tax is paid monthly, direct from my bank account. It's not exactly rocket science to set it up!
Can't see the difference always renewed when the reminder arrived, will be exactly the same now.
So having a bad memory means one is inevitably a bad driver. That's a new one on me.

Setting up direct debits may not be rocket science but allowing others access to your weath is unwise.
As my car tax is £20 a year you can't pay by DD...
I prefer it the way it is Tony, the DVLA are saving Millions but I notice It's not passed on to the Motorist.
Yes !

But I am not sure what happens now ? My car is zero rated, and the "tax" runs out on the 1st May this year, the cars second birthday. Will I get a reminder, or will I have to rely on my memory ?

( I can't remember what happened last May ! )

Come to think of it, as the car is zero rated, what is the point of "taxing" it, with or without a disc ?
It checks your insurance and MoT Mikey
OK...that makes sense I suppose bhg...thanks.

But will I get a reminder in the post, that I can take down to the Post Office ?

Don't faff with the P.O Mikey. Online is easy and informative.
But will I get reminder this summer ?

My local Post Office is struggling to stay open, as most of them are Togo, so I am quite happy to stand in line for 5 mins and do the car tax there.

If we all did the same, they wouldn't be shutting 100's of Post Offices every year !
As craft says, as my car is zero rated, I can't set up a DD either !
