Yep, Fords Mondeo (very similar to the photo) & Focus. Very reliable.
Several of them ,Rover 2000, Ford Escort Mks 1, 2 & 3 , Scorpio . VW GOLF but the MK1 .
Question Author
I've owned four of them, a Rover SD1, Vauxhall Carlton (2), Ford Mondeo Mk2 and a Peugeot 307 ( gawd knows how that won car of the year, it was the worse car I've ever owned ).
I had no idea that my first car (a Fiat 128) was awarded the accolade of European car of the year.

The example I owned rusted away before my eyes, despite being garaged.

Quite normal with Fiats of that era, Hymie.
Boy there are some horrors in there!

There must have been some backhanders to get that award surely.
3 (if you count the clio twice as it was top twice)
I've had 7.
(There are a lot of Fiats in the list aren't there?)
Only one - Ford Escort Mk3 - which is surprising given the number of cars I've had.
BMW never won it, seems strange

CX and Audi 100. We also had an earlier Polo, worst car ever built, broke down once a month, everything went wrong from the glovebox falling out to the wires working loose and electrifying the door handles. I was scared to get in it.

Only one, the Scorpio. Biggest pile of most hated poo I've ever had.
aRE YOU SURE , pRUDIE? .....What about the first husband?

Oh yeah forget about him, funnily enough I left him so he took away my new red Honda Prelude that he was paying for and gave me the Scorpio instead. b,stard :-)
Mine were the Rover P6 and SD1, Fiat 124, 3 x Fords, Escort, Mondeo (estate), and Granada (Scorpio) and a Carlton (estate.)

Have to say I loved 'em all except the Mondeo which was OK except for the engine which was a 1.9 diesel and so sluggish it was dangerous.

My dad had most of them, I did actually own the Terible Talbot as it was known at the time!
