I bought a used Peugeot 207 2 weeks ago from a main dealer, when i looked at it there was a few scuffs on the car that they agreed to sort out so i hadn't actually had the car until today. the mileage when i went to see the car was 27101 and this is on my invoice. The mileage when i picked it up today but didn't notice till i got home was 27666, the garage is 29 miles from me and i just drove straight home. Any suggestion what i should do? we paid for the car when we first went there so technically it was ours even though we didn't collect it until today.

Phone them and ask about the mileage Dave, insist on a reduction for the extra mileage on the car.

Yes do as TWR suggests, you bought that car with 27101 miles on the clock not 27666 also ask them how it managed to travel the 565 miles !.
I agree. Ask for an explanation and a partial refund......and mention local
Trading Standards if the dealer isn't helpful/forthcoming.

thanks, i hate dealing with car salesmen so thought if i go to a main dealer they should be a little more honest than the independent ones - obviously not
Dave, if that was me they would get 2 full barrel's ( And not brandy) I would ask for a full tank of fuel ( Yes) or the option as said, Trading Standards, some one in that garage has been using YOUR car.
I had problems once ..I found a garage in herts was hiring my Audi out when it was in for service !!!
That has been happening at airport's Murry, I would advise persons that leave their car with someone at these A/port Garages to check the mileage when leaving their cars.
Couldn't afford airport parking AND holidibob !! :0)
I leave my car at Jet2 man airport, it is Pre-Booked and I leave the car at their car park which is about 15mins away from the terminal, £38 P/Week, it's cheaper doing that than getting someone to run us there, the A/Port is an hour from our town.
the bigger the facade the bigger the crooks davey!
I heard of a case once where a guy went to pick up his car early and found they were swapping the engine for another.

update on this .... firstly in my original post i put "the mileage when i went to see the car was 27101" i never checked the actual car milometer i went by the advert online and the invoice when i paid. their explanation was..When a customer first comes in to sort out a part exchange they log the mileage from that point and advertise the car with this mileage. When they eventually pick up their new car up the mileage is then updated and this should be put on the invoice. in my case they said there was a clerical error and this mileage wasn't updated. The salesman said that a service was done just before and the mileage logged as 27614 and i said to him how comes it wasn't stamped in the service book he apologized and said send your book in and he will get it stamped which he did but yesterday when i got in the car the service indicator says service in 6000 miles so it looks like this wasn't reset as well. this all seems dodgy to me. Anybody know someone in the car dealership that can find out if this is correct ??
