There have been many threads about them. Most people advise to ignore them.

Thanks ummmm but cant understand why my question is not coming up as I typed it. Company in question is Paid Parking Company
That's coming up, ladywoman, what's the problem?
Question Author
Oh its still not coming up properly. I give up!!
Because AB was threatened with legal action.
Boxy...it's not the name of the company.
These are invoices, not fines.
The law changed last October - before then you could say you couldn't remember who was driving and that would be the end of it. Now the registered keeper is liable even if he/she wasn't the driver.
There are three options.
1. Ignore the letters they send. They very rarely take people to court (civil).
2. Pay it.
3. Lie through your back teeth with the one get out clause I have found. Write to them and say the driver was one of your children who is under 18. Because they are a minor you are not bound to disclose their details. When you park in their car parks there are boards displayed which state that by parking there you have entered into a contract to obey their rules (i.e. don't park longer than stipulated). Under Contract Law, a minor cannot enter into any such contract and therefore their invoice is invalid.

It just won't let me name the company properly
Because the company threatened answerbank with legal action.
Ah, that explains it - you can't post things on here which are defamatory (or potentially so) to any individual company. Naming names isn't allowed.

Thanks for that mrs_overall. I took it that their no return within 2 hours policy came into force after the initial 2 hours free. Don't know if this is right or not
You are welcome

Thanks for that methyl. Guess I'll have to pay up and put it down to experience. I'll know next time.
