I called them to find out the mileage - 103,000.

Does that price seem a bit steep? (excluding any negotiations)

If I were you I would check it against similar mileage and age cars, say on Auto trader or Ebay. Personally I wouldn't touch it with that sort of mileage, things will be starting to wear out ( mechanically ) and could prove to be expensive. Audi parts are not cheap.

Thanks Tony. I was concerned about the mileage. My Golf has got 130k on it and I'm thinking about chipping it in before it starts to fall apart. Kind of had my heart set on a TT but they're more than I thought.
A tip i found....See if you go to money supermarket as if you are looking for a car insurance quote...type in the regi and it gives the cars current value

Oh, also I saw that one on AT first but there was only 1 other one that came in under 6k.

this might help

Thanks Tinks, £4695 according to them.
Ah...see you know how to haggle then...btw try gumtree....

Audi tt is on my list of cars...if you get it im assuming im allowed a go ;0> xx
Question Author
Thanks Baldric. Few more on there. Looks like I might have to rethink the TT though, the ones I can afford are all older than my current car and that doesn't seem to make much sense to spend 3 times the amount mine is worth on.
Question Author
Yeah, got ripped off with my Golf cos I didn't realise I could haggle. Won't make that mistake again.

Anyone can every drive any car I ever own as long as they accept the rule, if they bend it they mend it.
Evian, a good one will not be cheap !
If the seller cannot produce any service history, especially fairly recent receipts, not to mention the "log book" which would confirm the true mileage - or otherwise? - then walk very quickly away using extremely large strides.

Plus, you should not pay anything near that asking price - don't be afraid to haggle - there are thousands of cars out there!
Wow great car no idea of car prices but to me does seem a little bit dear but if I could drive would love it in my drive lol.
It's high mileage, but it is the lesser stressed of the TT engines (150BHP and not the 180/190 or the 225) and if it's been well maintained and has a full history with it (all receipts for everything)

It's the same engine as the seat ibiza's which I was looking at recently, make sure it's had a cam belt change recently (or isn't due one... it's a pricy job), also the water pumps and MAF sensors are prone to going on them, so check/ask if it's had those done.
Beautiful car, has it got a lid?
Yep, a canvas one, sibton.
I also notice there are no pictures if it with the roof up.... really check that's in good condition because that's a huge expense if it's not!

103K wouldn't overly put me off a well maintained and cared for modern car (I've just bought one with 100K on the clock) but check everything before buying!

Thanks for all the answers! Ive been looking around a bit more and there do seem to be better deals to be had then that one. I think I need to hire a man to come with me and look at some so I don't just jump in and buy one straight away like I did with my current car. (although it has served me well so far).

Chuck, excellent point about the roof/canvas. It hadnt occurred to me there were no pics with it up. If I go to look at some ill make sure I check that out.
evian, if you go to look at it, put the roof up 3 or 4 times ( power roof ) to make sure there are no problems with the mechanism.

Will do, thanks for the tip.
Keep the Golf !
