Best all roud "Supermini?"

What in thr readers' opinions are the best value NEW 5-dr hatchback 'Superminis' in price range 9k to 12k? 'Must haves' include: air conditioning, very good mpg*, comfortable interior for up to 4 adults, ample boot space. One "No-No" from my wife are the side 'A' pillars in both front windows.

* Not going to be used in town very much; mostly on 70+ miles round trip each day using country 'A' roads and a bit of motorway.

Afterthought - Looking at my question I think I'm perhaps, asking a lot. I'll just ask anyone who has a supermini car, whether they would recommend the car and briefly why. Thanks a lot, guys. :)
I think you will have problems finding any car without A pillars!

Also, if you want a car that's going to be comfortable for 4 adults on motorways for long periods of time and has decent boot space I'd say you are looking at the wrong class of car and you'd be better off going up a class.

though if you're set on a supermini sized car the new shape fiesta's are pretty roomy and good.
Most car mags rate Fiesta as best
Collected a Fiesta 1.6 TDCI Titanium Econectic yesterday. £12k. (3 months as courtesy car) All the spec you mentioned + climate control, cruise control, terrific Sony audio, and more. Quoted as 75+ mpg but i'll be happy with 60+
