Nope - the instructions are very basic and this is not listed as an option.
They also seem to be un-contactable otherwise I'd have been on the blower to them days ago.

i would contact the local police for advice or sherriff court...magistrates in England I think...

Hi AP,
I was in a financial mess in the early 80s when I started driving AP. I pleaded guilty by post to an offence of no tax and I was fined £55 including back tax. I couldn't pay that amount in one go so I went to the court and explained that. They said I could pay weekly and I said I could only afford to pay £1 a week. They accepted that which helped me greatly at the time. I later found out that by law they had to accept any reasonable offer from me. I made sure I went in every week and paid £1 over the counter and got a receipt.
That was in about 1984 but I'm sure there must be similar procedures now. Perhaps it's worth going to your local court and explaining the same and make them an offer.

A Fixed Penalty Notice is not issued by a Court but by the Fixed Penalty Office. I don't think they allow payment terms but am not positive about that. If it is not paid within 28 days they will register it as a fine with the Magstrates' Court who will add on 50% as a penalty for non-payment. You can then agree payment terms with the Court. Can you perhaps borrow the money and pay it back in instalments to save paying the extra amount?

Thanks for the answers - it looks as if I'll just have to 'find' the money somewhere. (Talk about 'a punishment for the poor'...mutter mutter).

Maybe you could ring the Citizens Advice tomorrow, and have a word with them. They'd probably be the people to know. If you genuinely can't afford it, then surely there must be some kind of system in place to help with this.

Long answer, stop in a yellow box when your exit is blocked and yes you can get fined !
