Someone told me that if you park your car on the pavement and it is damaged ie someone dents it with their car, your insurance will not cover this. Is this true?

`Fraid so` vehicles are not allowed on pavements.

Thanks - I know parking on the pavement is illegal, but I wondered if you were pranged if your insurance would pay out.
how wuld your insurance know you were on the pavement not the road?
Cos the other driver would tell them so that his premium wouldn't go up.

I thank you all for your comments so I think to confirm I will ring my insurance company and see what they say.
