I would agree with Eddie51. The only involvement I’ve ever had in relation to an insurance claim was a solicitor advising me to accept a 50:50 offer from the other insurance party. I never bother with it, not worth it in my opinion. Others will disagree of course.
I would agree with Eddie51.

The only involvement I’ve ever had in relation to an insurance claim was a solicitor advising me to accept a 50:50 offer from the other insurance party.

I ignored this and won the case with the other party 100% to blame.

If I was ever involved in an insurance claim concerning a personal injury claim – I’m sure there are loads of ambulance chasers who’d be willing to help (probably more so than any appointed by an insurance company).
The insurance is useless if the offender can not be found or hasn't any money which is often the case especially with young drivers.

Legal cover also encourages poor driving because an offending driver has nothing to lose.
I've never bothered with it either. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but it's not the higher premium.
Basically it is a bit of a con. They just refer you to a solicitor of their choice.
I have it. It proved very worthwhile to me when I was in a fatal accident some 15 years ago.
I do pay for it on my motorbike insurance - there is such a (relatively) high chance of being the innocent victim of an idiot that it seems worthwhile.

I don't bother on the car insurance, for the reasons others have given.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
sunny-dave, it was an idiot biker that killed himself on my car, two other bikers seriously injured, two cars written off and three others damaged.
