/// Scotland Yard confirmed that a specialist unit was assessing 16 allegations of electoral malpractice linked to the current contest, including harvesting of postal votes and a claim of improper distribution of leaflets featuring Rabina Khan, the former head of the borough’s housing committee under Mr Rahman – and his chosen successor. ///

/// The 18-year-old business student, who will vote for the first time in Thursday’s election, said: “They kicked Lutfur Rahman out because they couldn’t stand having a Muslim guy running things. They cooked up some stuff to make him look bad and make sure he is kept away from politics. It’s Islamophobia – they didn’t want a brown guy who speaks for his community in charge. I’m voting for Rabina.” ///

Who are these people who didn't want a 'brown guy' and a Muslim to boot, to run things?

The Islamophobia card is played once again.

NO.
Doubt it, this enrichment we all feel comes with unpleasant cultural practices.
Probably not in my lifetime.

Soon be Sharia law there anyway soon.
"It’s Islamophobia – they didn’t want a brown guy who speaks.."

Yawn - sounds like the boring language of yesteryears dysfunctional indoctrinated lefties. It was repetitive and boring then.
It seems very much like a cultural thing within Islam. I want so I will get by fair means or foul.
I want a caliphate.I will have it by using the most hideous and evil practises to achieve it.
I want to be Mayor so I can take bungs to give preferential social housing to my fellows so I will achieve that aim by vote rigging and intimidation.
I want young girls to vilely abuse. I will join a paedophile gang and target the white, young and vulnerable because they are worthless trash.

I would not trust any Mayor or MP who are Islamic. As Whiskeryron said NO.
The "18 year old business student" should read this full judgement (which I have):

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/judgment.pdf

(It may no longer still be available via the BBC)

It describes the judgement handed down by Election Commissioner Richard Mawrey, who sat as a judge in the High Court. He described an “alarming state of affairs in Tower Hamlets” driven by the “ruthless ambition of one man”.

Mr Mawrey said Rahman had "driven a coach and horses" through local authority law and had been an “evasive witness”.

This was not "some brown guy" whom the authorities did not like running things. This was a man who had systematically contravened election law in many respects and this was not the first occasion. They were offences which the police had declined to investigate and which took the actions of four local residents (including one Muslim) to bring to book - at considerable financial risk to themselves.

I wish Ms Khan well in the fresh election. If she garners sufficient votes to win good luck to her. But I hope he does not adopt the same tactics as Mr Rahman or she may well find herself kicked out in a similar fashion.
Yes, had to laugh at that lad saying 'the man' had done for Rahman. He was thrown out despite the 'powers that be', not because of them.
