I've seen new cars on the road that don't have the Cars ID on the back.
They don't have the usual Model and Engine Size lettering on the back next to the tail lights. I've seen it VWs, Vauxhalls and Fords.

Do the owners request that the Manufacturer leaves them off when they buy the car?

Or do they just remove them themselves, but there are no traces of glue residue on the paint work.
Interesting indeed.

Some manufacturers allow you to buy unbadged cars.
More than likely the manufacture trying to save money like the stupid Noddy Spare wheel the give new cars Fan.
It's an option on many cars.

Some people use it to disguise the fact they bought the cheapest version of the car ☺☺☺
There are people who choose to "de-badge" their cars to make them "special"...I know somebody who does and you really would think that they came without any badges at all...but they didn't.

I prefer to have the lettering of the car's Model & Engine on the back, it looks better & knowing what the car is in front of you is.

Thanks for the answers folks. Always wondered why people do this.
Snobbery then. Ha ha ha.
my new car doesn't tell you its a TDI or what trim level or cc, its a Ford Fiesta
Titanium - Diesel - 1.5 - just says Fiesta on the Tailgate & a Ford badge (obviously) that's how it came
I noticed this on some BMW's some years ago, after sometime wondering why I realized that the ones that I saw without badges except for the normal round BMW badge were base models ( ie 316i ) and BMW gave the option of ordering these models badgeless.

They are usually just stuck on and easily removed my applying a bit of heat from a hair dryer and pulling them off.
