have you actually changed the class of the car to "disabled" yet? or is this the first time you are taxing it like this?
you need to get an exemption certificate (call the number at the top of the DLA award letter) first
If you are exempt and you have had to initially pay whilst you get the form from DLA you will be able to claim a refund of the remaining full months tax once you have got the necessary documentation. You will also have to send in a your log sheet with the changes part completed so it reads 'disabled' in tax class. Then when your reminder comes next year it will show nil payment for 12 months.
