Planet Earth

12:37 Wed 30th Jun 2010 |

Planet Earth is probably the most spectacular wildlife series made by the BBC. The series is narrated by Sir David Attenborough who brings to the show his obvious passion for the subject matter which draws in the viewer and makes it difficult to stop watching all ten hours in one sitting.

The visual effects are simply stunning. Almost without exception viewers have raved about the intricate camera work. Sat the end of each show there is a short video diary of how the shots were set up and executed. It is only this time spent with the crews and supporting staff when the sense of the huge dedication to the project and the wildlife comes across.

It is this commitment to the art that has enabled the viewer to see some of the rarest sights in the world and rightly puts the animals and their lives in the spot light.

For any who are worried that this will be repeating old footage be reassured there is something new in every episode which highlights the ignorance of most of the planet about what is going on around us.

Other recent wildlife series produced by the BBC include The Blue Planet, The Living Planet and the Life series.
