Wendy Richard

Did anyone see the tribute program last night? My initial thought was that it was a little soon to show it the same day as Wendy's death - but having watched it I thought it was a lovely tribute to a great TV star ..........

I really enjoyed the programme. She was only a few years older than me, I'd forgotten how pretty she was when she was young, we always tend to remember her as Pauline Fowler.
It was so moving I never realised she'd done all that in her life. I always thought she had children though. But looking back I think I mistook her bloke for her son when she collected MBE
It might seem to soon after her death to show such a programme,BUT,what we have to remember is.
They have (given Wendy's condition) had this programme "in the can" for some months now.
If left to the ordinary schedulers we might not see such a programme for months, and then possibley never!
Did you know that there is an Obituary deaprtment at the BBC.
It consists of staff who update the Obit programmes(such as Wendy's) all the time, with new facts, film etc.
So when someone famous(and usually old) dies they have a programme ready made to show.

Morbid isn't it!
I am old but they haven't asked ME for any home videos etc! LOL
I thought it was a lovely and moving tribute. She was a very attractive person.

You are all right, it was a lovely program - I did notice that the end credit mentioned that a lot fo the co star interview were from a 2001 program called "My Life on TV" so I know the just edited it together ..... didn't know about the Beeb's obit people Mr V ... it is a bit morbid but better than than never seeing such programs I agree.
A british institution. RIP Wendy Richards.
